Spare A Thought

THIS will be the second year that campaigners are spending Christmas camped out in Titnore Woods to protect them from the developers chain saws, and we are determined to make sure that they enjoy the festive season as much as everyone else.

In order to give the campers the best festive time possible all the supporting groups are coming together to help fill hampers with goodies. Please read below and come down to the Titnore Woods Campaign Table Saturday 8 December from 11am:

To fill the hampers we are asking supporters to donate any tined food, pasta, rice, muesli, porridge, fruit etc. Also of help would be a hurricane lamp and large army style boots. Items can be dropped off at the table or collected from Worthing and the surrounding area if you send us an e-mail

Also as last year the campers welcome visits from supporters over Christmas to pull a cracker or two.

Said Dave Phillips of Worthing eco-action: "When the protesters moved onto the site of the proposed development on May 28, 2006 nobody imagined that they would still be there for a second Christmas.

"It is largely thanks to the tremendous support they have been receiving from the people of Worthing that they have been able to keep the struggle going so long.

"As most of us look forward to spending Christmas somewhere warm and cosy, surrounded by our families, we are asking people to remember the protesters who have committed to staying at the site, fighting to
protect our precious countryside from the bulldozers.
