Body Shop Founder Supports Campaign.

Dame Anita Roddick, founder of the Global Body Shop group, has thrown her support behind the campaign of save Titnore Lane and the Ancient Woodland from the developers. Commenting on this exciting breaking news John Clark of Protect Our Woodland said:

"We are most grateful to Dame Anita for allowing us to use her name as a supporter of our campaign. To have the support of such a respected campaigner on Human Rights and Environmental issues world wide(1) has made our campaign come alive. Such support we could only have dreamt of when we started this campaign.
Now nearly 5 years on we go from strength to strength. From a few local residents with the cheek to stand up and say no to planning authorities and multimillion-pound multinational national land developers, we have not only the support of the local community but also hundreds for former locals who are either working or living abroad. So with the treetop campers(2) fully prepared for the winter, we are more than ever determined to stop the destruction of such unique and cherished part of the English countryside."

(2) The treetop camp now covers about an acre of woodland in South Lodge Rue and the Lag on the east side of Titnore Lane Worthing. The tree houses, some with platforms on 3 levels and of a similar design to those at the Newbury anti-road protest, have been built directly on the route of the planned access road in to the development.
