PRESS RELEASE FROM:

PROTECT OUR WOODLAND (POW!)

For Immediate Release.

HARD HITTING ANTI DEVELOPMENT VOTE.

Just 20 more votes in last Thursday's council election in the Northbrook
ward of Durrington and the issue of the hated West Durrington Development
plan would have got more votes than the Councillor who polled the most.
With each voter being given 2 votes, many voters elected to vote for the 2
candidates - one Green and one Independent - who put themselves forward as
No to the development, candidates.

John Clark from Protect Our Woodland said: "What more evidence needs to be
shown to the new council that this development is hated. Protestors have closed
an A road for an afternoon, since 2002 handed in 500 individual letters, petitions
containing over 4000 signatures and now a massive vote against the development
in a council election.
If democracy means anything in this country any more, then the West Durrington
Development plan must be scraped. The alternative doesn't bear thinking about".
