Titnore Lane as many of you will know, is the ancient tree lined winding lane that links the A27 and A259 west of Worthing that is under threat from the bulldozer. In a scheme similar to the destruction of Angmerings' charming High Street, developers in league with Worthing borough and the county council, propose to widen and straighten Titnore Lane to cope with extra traffic generated by a vast new housing development.

The newly elected Worthing council will know by now, that should the development be approved, there will be trouble and we want to avoid that. After the previous protest walk that closed the Lane, the massive amount of letters and petitions received, and now the 25% vote achieved in the recent election by the candidate who stood on the NO development ticket, the council must realise the residents mean business.

However, just in case they need one final reminder before the planning meeting expected soon, we ask everyone who cherish the English countryside and its heritage to join us for a colourfull gathering at 2pm, Saturday 10 July in Montague Street (near Woolworth's) Worthing. Please come with banners ‘Save Titnore Lane’ etc. A good turnout is needed, for if democracy fails to move the council, the next move by the residents may be less democratic.
